TUT Setup A Static IP .

This is a quick tutorial to show how to setup a static ip address.. cause I'm nice :-D

If you don't know why you need a static ip please go here and have a read...

What's Static IP ?

I'm not going to write a ton.. i will explain it very simply..

Just follow the screens..

First step go to cmd shell (run -> type 'cmd')

Now type ipconfig /all

Look for the ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS servers.. note them down (write them on to a notepad we need it later)



Ok lets go to next step

Go to Start -> Connect to -> show all connections

Select your active connection.. Right click > Properties


Ok.. next select the Internet protocol (TCP/IP) > properties



You will get this screen..


now select 'Use the following ip address' & 'Use the following DNS server address'

Now go back to the first step where we saved.. now in put them in the order.. (ip address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS servers)



Now click ok.. Ok ! it will look like this..



Ok we done. click ok.. close everything.. Disconnect from the connection.. reconnect.. now you will get 192.168.1.5 as the ip address everytime you connect :-D

Now lets say you want to portforward port 3460.. use in the ip as 192.168.1.5



NOTE : I have already setup my static IP..thats why its 192.168.1.5 .. it can be any number for you just set it to whatever you want..
